PRIVACY & COOKIE POLICY

How I handle the data of people who visit this website or write to me, and which cookies the website uses.

Who handles your data

The data controller is Daniele Sollai, UX/UI & Web Designer based in Cagliari (Sardinia, Italy). For any question about this policy or about your data, you can write to me at danielesollai.design@outlook.it.

What data I collect

Browsing data

As with any website, the service that hosts it automatically records some technical data about visits (for example the IP address, the type of browser, and the date and time of the request). This data is only used to make the website work and to protect it from abuse, and I don’t use it to identify you.

Visit statistics

To understand how many people visit the website and which content interests them most, I use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which only shows me aggregated numbers: the pages viewed, the website people come from (for example Instagram or Google), the type of device and browser, and the country. I can’t see who you are, and I can’t follow your visits one by one. According to Cloudflare, the service doesn’t use cookies or any other browser storage, and doesn’t track people across websites.

Data you send me

If you write to me through the contact form, I receive your name, your e-mail address, the subject if you add one, and your message. The form is handled by Formspree, a service that receives the message and forwards it to me by e-mail. The same applies if you write to me directly by e-mail or on social media.

Why I use it and on what basis

  • To reply to your requests and, if you wish, to prepare a quote or start a project together: the legal basis is the request you made (Art. 6(1)(b) of EU Regulation 2016/679, the “GDPR”).
  • To make the website work and keep it secure: the legal basis is my legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  • To know, in aggregated form, how the website is used (how many visits, which pages, where visitors come from), so I can improve it: the legal basis is my legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

I don’t use your data for advertising or profiling, and I don’t sell it to anyone.

How long I keep it

I keep the messages you send me for as long as needed to reply and to manage any collaboration that comes out of them; after that I delete them, unless the law requires me to keep them longer (for example for tax obligations related to work carried out).

Who I share it with

To run the website I rely on a few external services, which process data only for the purposes described here:

  • the hosting service that hosts the website;
  • Formspree, for the contact form;
  • Cloudflare, for visit statistics (Cloudflare Web Analytics): to collect them, your browser loads a small script from Cloudflare’s servers.

The typefaces are hosted on the website itself: to display them your browser doesn’t connect to any external service.

Some of these services may process data outside the European Union (for example in the United States). In that case the transfer takes place with the safeguards provided by the GDPR, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or participation in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Cookies

Cookies are small files that a website saves in your browser. This website only uses technical cookies and storage:

  • ds-consent (your browser’s local storage, or a technical cookie if local storage isn’t available): it remembers the choice you made in the banner, so you aren’t asked again on every visit. It lasts six months.

I don’t use profiling, analytics or advertising cookies. Visit statistics (Cloudflare Web Analytics) work without cookies and without saving anything in your browser, so they don’t depend on the choice you make in the banner. Declining doesn’t change how the website works.

The website contains links to other websites (the projects I’ve built, LinkedIn, Instagram, the reviews on Google): when you open them, those websites’ own policies apply.

You can change your choice at any time from here, and you can delete the website’s data from your browser settings.

Your rights

At any time you can ask me to access your data, to correct it, to erase it, to restrict its processing, to receive it in a readable format (portability) or to object to its processing (Articles 15–22 GDPR). Just write to me at danielesollai.design@outlook.it.

If you believe your data is being processed incorrectly, you can lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.

Changes

If I change the way the website handles data (for example by adding new services), I will update this page and the date at the top, and the banner will ask for your consent again when needed.
